Choose with Lucas

An educational children's book about choices and feelings

Meet Lucas…

Lucas is the main character in the interactive learning book, Choose with Lucas. He is a 4 year old boy who goes to kindergarten, and through the book we get to make some choice for him.
What happens, how it makes Lucas feel, and the outcome of the story, is dependant of the choices the child, reading the book, makes.

The book also contains a guide on topics and questions to ask the child(ren), to help them reflect on their own actions and (limited) experience, along with a guide for the reader (adult) on how to approach these topics, to make the child feel safe and secure, in sharing these experiences and feelings.

‘Dad’s waiting, I have to run Lucas, I love you!’ – Said mom, standing in the door opening.
Lucas was upset with her, and wanted his mom to know how he was feeling,
so he crossed his arms and looked away in silence.

The storyline and outcome depends on the choices made. This provides much more substance to speak on with the child(ren), and makes a story that can be read over and over again, with new events and endings!
The advantage

Use the conversations and guides throughout the book, to engage the child in conversation and guide them in the right direction.
The difference

Whether reading this book, or any other children’s book, always remember; there is a big difference in reading a story for a child, and reading a story with a child.

3 quick ones about me:
– I am a firm believer in “you get what you give”.
– I love making a difference, wherever I can, just for the smile I get.
– I believe that positive redefinition is the key, in seeing the capabilities of the person in front of you.

How does Kickstarter work?

Kickstarter is a ‘crowd funding’ page, where authors, artists and inventors can make a campaign, to raise funds for a product, by selling it to you, before it’s ‘out there’. In my case, you can be the first to get your hands on a ‘Choose with Lucas’ book, digital and hardcover.

Pledging a project on Kickstarter is both easy and secure. Choose the pledge you want make to the campaign, from the list on the right side of the screen, choose your country, and click ‘Continue’. You are taken to the secured payment page, where you enter credit information and mail, and click ‘Pledge’.
Your card is not credited at this point. Only if the campaign reaches it’s goal, will it be credited, and first after the campaign ends.
If the campaign fails to reach it’s goal, your card is not credited.

Will the book be available in my country?

The book will be available in Danish and English, and will ship world wide. To read more, check out the kickstarter page.

Will there be any more books in the future?

Short answer, yes!
‘Choose with Lucas’ is the first book, in a series of four books. Through the series, we follow Lucas as he grows, from 4-7 years of age, from kindergarten to school, in some of the different challenges he faces. These books will also be interactive, multi-path stories with guides and conversation topics.

When will 'Choose with Lucas' become available?

Depending on the outcome of the campaign, we’re hoping to have the book ready by May 2016 for the backers on kickstarter, and by fall for the rest of you.

Anything else?

If the campaign exceeds its goals, the first order of business is to add another Character, Sarah, to the e-book version of the story. Thereby changing the story to Choose with Lucas and Sarah.

The next is to make a another edition of the real book, where you can change the main character of the book between Lucas and Sarah.

The third step is to make a ‘Lucas and Sarah App’ for iOS, Android and Windows 10, with games for kids ages 3-7, that comes as a free download..
